The Sudbury Aqueduct in Sherborn and Wellesley, MA. May, 2003

Here are two structures on the historic Sudbury Aqueduct in Massachusetts. No longer in service, it originally brought water to Boston from the Sudbury Reservoir in Marlborough/Southborough. It runs through Framingham, Sherborn, Natick, Wellesley, Needham, and Newton on its way to the Chestnut Hill reservoir in Boston.

(Google "Echo Bridge" Aqueduct for information on a very interesting bridge that's part of the Sudbury Aqueduct on the border between Needham and Newton.)

Here, I have pictures of two buildings on the aqueduct: one in Sherborn near the Natick and Framingham town lines; the second in Wellesley that's a head house for what's known as an "inverted siphon".

As the saying goes, "they don't make 'em like that any more".
